4 Tips to Becoming a Thrifting Pro

Hey Girl,

IDK about you but I love finding the cutest pieces at such a discounted price. Some people don’t understand that thrifting is a crucial part fo having the most unique wardrobe. As I told you guys in my last post, if recently thrifted a lot and feel that I have so many tips and tricks to share. So many gems and vintages pieces can be found and today I’m going to teach you how.

#1 Master the Scan

Scanning is a very important part of thrifting. Thrift stores have thousands and thousands of pieces that it would take hours to look through them all. When thrifting look for what kind of pattern, colour, or texture you want. This makes the process much faster

#2 Sell Pre- Loved Items Before

I alwayssss sell my clothes when going thrifting. Almost every thrift store will give you money for your items. Plato’s Closet is the best for that. The other day I brought my items there, shopped for a bit, and left with 3 new shirts and $30.

#3 Flip your Finds

When thrifting, never just look for pieces you’d wear right away. Many items I buy are simply because I love the pattern or texture and not just because of the garment. You can change many pieces simple with a quick hand sew or crop into something completely unique. Pictured below is a simple tank and shorts I thrifted. I simply cropped the top and bleach the dyed both pieces.

#4 Make a Plan

As for everything, making a plan helps things a lot. This way you aren’t looking for hours with no idea of what you actually want. I have an entire Pinterest board dedicated to pieces I want to find thrifting. Remember that you won’t always find exactly what you are looking for but have patience because there is most likely something very similar.
